Should I ever waive the home inspection?

Waiving a home inspection makes sense only in narrow situations, such as when a buyer is a contractor or experienced renovator who can assess the property's condition themselves, or when they are prepared to accept whatever condition issues surface after closing. In a competitive offer situation, some buyers waive the contingency to compete while still paying for an informational inspection that does not give them the right to renegotiate.
