What are modular homes, exactly?
Modular homes are built in sections inside a factory to the same building codes as a site-built house, then transported and assembled on a permanent foundation. That differs from a manufactured or mobile home, which is built to a separate federal code and often does not sit on a permanent foundation. Financing, insurance, and resale treat modular homes much like traditional construction once they are assembled and inspected.
