What is a climate risk score and where does it come from?
A climate risk score is a rating, produced by a private modeling company or a government agency, that estimates a property's exposure to flooding, wind, wildfire, or other hazards based on its location and elevation. It is separate from a flood zone designation and can vary between providers using different data and assumptions. Buyers and insurers increasingly reference these scores, but they remain estimates, not guarantees.
