What is a flip tax and will it affect my sale?
South Carolina has no flip tax on a home sale; that fee comes from a different state's real estate market and does not apply to any Lowcountry closing. The real transfer-related cost at a South Carolina closing is the deed recording fee, charged at closing and customarily paid by the seller though the contract can shift it. There is no percentage-of-profit fee charged to a seller the way a flip tax works elsewhere. Brian Beatty and a buyer's or seller's closing attorney can confirm the actual closing costs that apply to a specific sale.
