What is a post-closing possession agreement?
A post-closing possession agreement lets a seller stay in the home for an agreed stretch of time after closing, paying the buyer a daily or set fee, which is useful when a seller's next home isn't ready yet. It has to be written into the contract before closing, not negotiated afterward, and usually spells out who carries insurance and what happens if the seller overstays. Brian Beatty builds these into a contract early when a client's timeline needs the extra flexibility.
